River Laker and John Anderson discuss ‘Stand By Her’

Picture 2The National Cancer Institute has predicted over 40,000 women in the United States will die in 2009 from breast cancer and almost 200,000 new cases will develop.

Last week, the Roanoke Valley chapter of Komen for the Cure, an international breast cancer organization, held a rally on Roanoke’s Mill Mountain, along the Blue Ridge Parkway, where survivors shared their stories of beating the deadly disease that 1 in 8 women will face during their lifetime.  The event Shout It From the Mountain Tops received significant press coverage.

Roanoke based lawyer, ad man and writer John Anderson was featured on NBC’s The Today Show last week in a segment about his new book Stand By Her, a breast cancer survival guide for men.

River Laker–of Car Less Brit and Emerging Artists fame–sat down with John Anderson for a chat about his new guide book and his journey with the women in his life who have battled breast cancer.

Anderson will read from his book on Thursday, October 15th at 6 pm at Roanoke’s main library on Jefferson Street.

Parts Two and Three of River’s interview with John Anderson will be released this week.
